2026 Model Railway Exhibition

Our 2026 Model Railway exhibition was held on the weekend of May 16 and 17 at the Moe Racing Club, it featured over 10 layouts, along with retail and second hand stores.

HO T-Trak Co-operative

This layout is the combined effort of many members who use form one to a few modules and assemble the layout to produce a workable HO gauge layout. Each module is a scene on its own but connects to other modules to form the whole layout. It can be small or very large depending on how many modules are included.

Rockfall

Rockfall siding is a 009 gauge layout built within the confines of a 500*800mm suitcase. All the scenery elements, landscape, trees, rocks and even some of the sheep are scratch built from card, papier-mache and plaster. Buildings are cardboard constructions and the figurines are hand painted. I have added a fold down front to the case, as I want the layout to be bound by the suitcase and allow the scenery elements to draw the eye out to the horizon, rather than lifting the layout board out of the case. The suitcase is the scene, not just the mode of transport.

Gippsland Line

This layout is presented by the Latrobe Valley Model Railroad association. It includes Warragul station as it is currently today and there is also a representation of the Moe station in the 1950's. The station of Warragul was totally scratch built by one of our club members.

Yorkeys Crossing

This layout is a representation of the desert railway in Australia somewhere for the mines that must move vast tons of iron ore to the ports.

Eddington Quay

Eddington Quay is a secluded cove near the Devon Cornwall border. It is built to 7mm/ft scale on 16.5mm gauge track to represent a 2ft 3in line. On the quay there is a fish processing factory while at the other end of the quay is a small marine engineering works that services the local fishing fleet. The steam loco kits are all from the Smallbrook Studio range. The coaches are also Smallbrook kits and the freight stock is a mostly scratch built from cardboard on old Hornby chassis. All the buildings on the layout are cardboard kits or scratchbuilt.

Jewell Creek

The layout is based on Victorian Railways 2'6" narrow gauge practice and we decided to represent a fictitious section of the line that could have been part of the Ferntree Gully -Gembrook railway. Scenery required a lot of work, as most of the buildings and trees are made from scratch. Built and created by Geoff Dupree, David Wheelan and Mike Tampion.

Orbost

This layout depicts the old line that ran past Bairsdale and on to Orbost. It includes the long trestle bridge that was part of the line. It is built on a very small scale to enable all the features to be included.

Black and White

Black and white is a layout created by the Creative Modelling Group. Based in World War 2 from 1939 to 1945. The war when the allies fought against the Germans. The layout is viewed as a black and white movie.

Turtle City

Turtle city is a layout currently in progress. Established in 2025 with the help of my father. It was inspired by a memorable trip to Japan and a shared love of Shinkansen (bullet trains)

N Scale T-Trak

This layout is the combined effort of many members who use form one to a few modules and assemble the layout to produce a workable N gauge layout. Each module is a scene on its own but connects to other modules to form the whole layout. It can be small or very large depending on how many modules are included.

Little Oaklands and Oaklands Junction

Oaklands Junction Little Oaklands is a freelance oo scale layout depicting a rural branch line setting somewhere in the Northeast of England, built on a single particle board panel. Oakland Junction is a freelance HO scale layout depicting a rural branch line somewhere in the Southeast of South Australia, built on two particle board off cuts.

U Drive

For all the young at heart and the older folks, you may drive the train to your heart's content. There are different Thomases running as well as many other locomotives. This is a new version that has been built by one of our members for all to enjoy.

2 Mile Creek

2 Mile creek depicts a timber cutting settlement in the 1920's. All buildings are scratch built, and the layout shows the elements of an operating saw milling operation. A great amount of time was spent creating a lifelike image of the era.

Billabong Flat

Billabong Flat represents a branch line in extremely remote country Victoria during the early 1970s. The layout follows Victorian Railways practice and depicts the end of the branch line with a small station yard, goods shed, and engine shed. The layout is a demonstrates one of the main advantages on N scale - the possibility to provide interesting operations in a small space. We feature Australian trains and during the exhibition you will see a variety of trains running, primarily Victorian but at times New South Wales and South Australian equipment.

Amity Island

This is a freelance design of a railroad next to a bay, supposedly where there is a large shark. built with relative ease. It is all digital and run by an NCE controller which has two main tracks. It shows how a basic layout can be.
